벚꽃이 피기 시작하는 어느 봄, 노리코는 꿈에 그리던 세이레이 병원 소아과에 첫 출근을 한다. 바다가 내려다보이는 언덕 위에 그림같이 자리한 최첨단 병원, 뛰어난 의료진과 베테랑 선배들, 작고 여린 몸으로 꿋꿋하게 병마와 싸워나가는 아이들. 아직 한 사람 몫을 다하기엔 부족한 자신이지만, 그런 만큼 더 힘을 내야 한다고 각오를 다지는 그녀다. 하지만 기분전환 겸 찾은 산 정상 레스토랑에서 만난 묘한 커플이 남긴 ‘무뇌아 출산’이라는 말, 그리고 단짝 유코가 전해준 병원 내 비밀 병동에 관한 이야기. 무뇌아, 뇌가 없이 태어나는 아이들…… 그 아이들에게 무슨 일이 일어나고 있는 것일까.
